ESPN President John Skipper released a statement this afternoon

“While we had approval on the content of the show, I erred in assuming we could distance our efforts from the Barstool site and its content.”

This yet another, in a long list of controversies and backlash the sports network ESPN has been mixed up in lately. Barstool is a site that has taken pride in it’s claim to be “edgy.” Many people have long complained that Barstool’s content crosses the “edgy” line, and jumps right into the racist and degrading category. Variety (@variety) reports that ESPN football host Samantha Ponder took to social media to call out Barstool writers for the way they described her on their site. She also expressed disappointment with ESPN for aligning themselves with Barstool despite their offensive content on their site.
