Kevin Spacey was accused by fellow actor Anthony Rapp of making unwanted sexual advances toward him back in 1986 when he was only 14-years old. Spacey didn’t deny the claim. He seemed to take the opportunity to come out as gay, and own his sexuality. A move that has many people upset with Spacey. Claiming the actor failed to take responsibility for his actions.
Reuters (@reuters) reports, Kevin Spacey apologized on Sunday to fellow actor Anthony Rapp who said Spacey made a sexual advance to him in 1986 when Rapp was 14-years old. Spacey said that he was “beyond horrified” to hear Rapp’s story of the encounter in a Twitter post. Spacey said that he was drunk and did not remember the encounter. Spacey wrote that he owed Rapp a “sincere apology” for “deeply inappropraite drunken behavior.”
In a BuzzFeed interview, Rapp described attending a party hosted by Spacey in which the actor picked him up, brought him to a bed, and laid down on top of him after other guest had left.
Spacey didn’t deny the claims in the written statement, where he added “I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I now choose to live life as a gay man.” Spacey also added “I want to deal with this honestly and openly, and that starts with me examining my own behavior.”
