Former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay was killed when the small plane he was flying in crashed into shallow water near the Gulf Of Mexico. Halladay was 40-years old. 6 Action News Philly (@6abc), reports the crash happened shortly before noon today (November 7th). No other details have been released, including the number of people on the plane, or if there were any other injuries or fatalities.
Roy Halladay was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009. He played with the Phillies from 2010-2013. In the 2011 season, Halladay was a key part of the Phillies Phantastic Phour, which included fellow ace pitchers Cole Hammels, Roy Oswalt, and Joe Blanton. Some considered the foursome the best pitching combination in baseball at the time.
