Jesse Jackson announced today (Friday November 17th) that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder with no cure. Parkinson’s can cause tremors, stiffness, difficulty walking, or even balancing and coordinating movements. Almost 1 million people in the United States suffer from the disease.
CNN (@cnn) reports, Jackson wrote in a statement “My family and I began to notice changes about three years ago. After a battery of test, t physicians identified the issue as Parkinson’s disease, a disease that bested my father.” Jackson added that he sees his diagnosis with the disease as “a signal that I must make lifestyle changes and dedicate myself to physical therapy in hopes of slowing the disease’s progression.”
