Black Panther outperformed everyone’s expectations. Probably even Marvel’s. The wildly popular superhero flick has crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide. This is big news. Especially for those that doubted a movie with a predominantly black cast could pull in huge numbers across seas. Question asked. Question answered. Black Panther is a success. The Verge (verge) reports, Black Panther is the first Marvel movie to stay in the top box-office slot for four weeks straight. The film was helped by a solid debut in China, where it earned $66.5 in its first three days. Black Panther beat out Deadpool for the largest February debut of all time, it is also the second largest Marvel debut (Avengers #1), and the highest grossing film by a black director.
