Federal investigators wiretapped the phones lines of Donald Trump personal attorney/fixer, Michael Cohen. Cohen is currently under investigation for a payment he made to pornstar, Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had an affair with Donald Trump.
NBC News (@NBCNews) reports, while it is not clear just how long the FEDS had the lawyer’s phone lines wiretapped, NBC News has learned that the phone taps had been in place in the weeks leading up to the raids on Cohen’s homes and offices in early April, according to sources with direct knowledge of the situation. At least one phone call between a phone line associated with Cohen and the White House was intercepted, the person said.
Previously, federal prosecutors in New York have said in court filings that they have conducted covert searches on multiple email accounts maintained by Cohen.
After the raid, members of Trump’s legal team advised Trump not to speak to Cohen. Sources close to Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s newest attorney, say Rudy learned that Trump called Cohen days after Cohen was raided. Giuliani then told Trump to never call Cohen again, out of fear that Cohen’s calls may be being recorded by prosecutors.
If anybody would know how prosecutor’s work, it would be Rudy, considering that he was once a prosecutor himself.

The device used to monitor and track Cohen is known as a “pen register”. Unlike a wiretap, a pen register monitors the call logs, not listen in on calls like a wiretap does.
