IHOP IS NOW IHOB. IT JUST DOESN’T HAVE THE SAME RING TO IT DOES IT?

I’ve been to IHOP a total of three times in my life. Twice to eat, and one time I traveled to the restaurant in search of part-time employment. By the way, I didn’t get the job, just in case you were wondering. But, my point is, I’ve never went to IHOP with burgers on my mind. And judging by chit-chatter on Twitter, neither has a majority of other people either.

Why? Why focus on burgers? It took years and years for IHOP to carve out a name for themselves as “a leading pancake distributor”, why go directly against the very thing that made you successful in the first place?

According to CNN Money (@CNNMoney), the name change is temporary. The whole thing is simply a marketing campaign to promote the restaurant chain’s new line of burgers. IHOP hopes the marketing campaign will get people to recognize them as a lunch and dinner spot as well as breakfast.

“We are definitely going to be IHOP, but we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes.” IHOP’S president Darren Rebelez told CNN Money.

I guess those who were freaking out over the name change can now breathe a little easier. IHOP is still IHOP……unless this burger thing takes off……probably? Maybe not? Smh, now I’m even more confused about the whole thing than I was before I started this story. Thanks a lot IHOB!
