Tyler Honeycutt, who was a standout player at UCLA and had a short stint in the NBA after being drafted by the Sacramento Kings, was found dead in his home of what police say was an apparent suicide, after he engaged the police in a brief shootout.
TMZ (@tmz) reports, officers were called to Honeycutt’s home in Sherman Oaks by a woman who said Honeycutt had been acting erratically. That woman turned out to be Honeycutt’s mother. Police went to Honeycutt’s home at around 5pm on Friday evening to check on the 27-year old. Upon arrival, Honeycutt reportedly opened fire on the police. Cops reportedly fired back, but did not hit Honeycutt with any of the shots fired. Honeycutt barricaded himself inside of the home for hours. SWAT finally entered the home early Saturday morning and found Honeycutt inside and unresponsive. The Fire Department declared Honeycutt dead at the scene.
LAPD reported that Honeycutt had not been hit by any police gunfire in the shootout with the police, but did say his injuries “were consistent with a self-inflicted wound.” No cops were hit in the brief shootout either. Police say they recovered a weapon at the scene.

R&B singer Trey Songz turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department Monday morning to face charges of alleged felony domestic violence charges. Songz turned himself in, with his attorney Shawn Holley in tow early on Monday morning.
TMZ (@tmz) reports, the charge stems from an incident involving a woman Songz was out with in LA last month during NBA All-Star weekend. Songz was booked at 6am and released shortly after 8am after he posted a $50,000 bond.
Songz is accused of beating Andrea Buera at a party in the Hollywood Hills where she claims he was upset because she was talking to another man. Buera says Songz beat her so badly, she suffered a concussion and had to go to a hospital for treatment. She claims several people at the party witnessed the alleged “beating.” Songz said that he was being lied on and the woman was out for “personal gain.”
Former Glee’ star Mark Sailing has died in what police are classifying as an “apparent suicide” just weeks before the former actor was set to be sentenced to prison time on possession of child pornography charges.
People Magazine (@people) reports, Sailing’s attorney, Michael Proctor gave People magazine the following statement:
“I can confirm that Mark Sailing passed away early this morning. Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgement. He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Sailing family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”
Police received a call to do a “welfare check” on Sailing early Tuesday morning. Somehow the visit to the house led police to a baseball field where Sailings’ body was found. Police say Sailing had been dead for awhile when his body was discovered. Law Enforcement reports that Sailing was found hanging from a tree. The initial “welfare check” on Sailing was the result of a family member going to the police station at 3am to file a missing persons report on Sailing. Mark Sailing’s death was officially ruled a suicide as no foul play has been detected. Mark Sailing was 35-years old.
