In a hearing in a federal courtroom on Wednesday morning, U.S. District Court Judge, Federico Moreno said Kodak Black was a “danger to the community” based on his long rap sheet. Minutes later, the judge ruled that Kodak will remain detained until his trial.
Kodak Black was arrested earlier this month right before he was set to perform at Rolling Loud Miami. He was booked on charges related to falsifying information to purchase (at least) three firearms. A judge initially set Kodak’s bond at $550,000. Prosecutors appealed that judge’s decision. On Wednesday morning, a federal judge sided with prosecutors and ruled that Kodak will be held without bail until his trial date.
“I’m very concerned with the type of guns he wanted to get a hold of, and that he has a prior criminal history. He was out on bond (on another case) and he committed an offense.” U.S District Judge Federico Moreno said from the bench according to The Miami Herald @MiamiHerald.
Prosecutors allege that one of the guns Kodak purchased when he falsified the info, was connected to a shooting that took place in March. According to the feds, Kodak’s fingerprints were found on the gun that was left at the scene of the crime. No one was hit in the shooting. A Porsche Panamera that was seen at the scene of the crime was later found abandoned nearby. No word yet on if the Porsche was also connected to the rapper. Chances are, it probably will, when the prosecution releases all of the evidence related to the case, or when it comes up at trial, otherwise the Porsche likely wouldn’t have been mentioned at all.
The former police chief and two officers in Biscayne Park have been charged federally for framing a 16-year old in four unsolved burglaries in the area. Federal prosecutors say the motive was an attempt by the officers and police chief to keep a perfect score on the small towns crime statistics.
The Miami Herald (@miamiherald) reports, federal prosecutors say former police chief Raimundo Atesiano and two police officers, acting under his authority, lied about the arrest to garner praise from the tiny towns’ elected leaders for their “crime-solving” skills.
Atesiano surrendered to aurhorities on Monday and was charged with two counts of violating the teens’ civil rights. He was granted a $50,000 personal surety bond that was co-signed by his wife. The other cops, Charlie Dayoub and Raul Fernandez were issued summonses and are scheduled to make their first court appearances later this month. They face the same charges as Atesiano.
The tiny Biscayne Park police department has a total of 11 full-time officers…..and at least 3 are suspected of framing suspects, or at least have allegedly framed a suspect once.
“That’s not the way things are done in Biscayne Park. This was five years ago. We have a different manager and a different police chief” said Biscayne Park Village Manager, Krishan Manners.
The turn-up may have been a little too real down in Miami beach the other night. Somebody thought that it would be a good idea to have a woman ride in on a horse onto a crowded dance floor. Maybe they thought it would be funny. Clearly, Miami city officials did not. The day after the “horse turn-up” city officials showed up at the club to shut it down. They also opened up an investigation into the club’s owner for a possible case of animal abuse.
The New York Times (@NYTimes) reported, Miami Mayor Dan Gelber had a few words for the club owner and its patrons who may have found the show enjoyable
“This morning we heard about and saw an extremely troubling video of what can only be described as insane stupidity. It was dangerous to this animal, it was dangerous to the public, it was inhumane. It wasn’t silly or sophomoric. It was outrageous.”
The order issued to Mokai Lounge, says the horse was paraded around the venue sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning. The city order says the footage shows that the horse was scared and concludes that the situation was an “actual threat” to public health and safety. Enough to warrant the revocation of the lounge’s business license.

Rick Ross is currently in the hospital hooked up to a machine that’s taken over the functions of the heart and lungs.
TMZ (@TMZ) reports, Rick Ross is currently in a Miami area hospital’s Cardiac Unit. TMZ suggested that this may be a sign that Ross might have suffered from a heart attack, which manifested itself as respiratory issues Thursday morning.
Ross was reportedly rushed to the hospital after a 911 caller reported he was unresponsive and “slobbing at the mouth.” TMZ reports that doctors have put Ross on a ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). The ECMO is a technique used to oxygenate a patient’s blood outside of the body, before it’s pumped back into the body. A quick Google search confirmed what TMZ reported: ECMO is a form of life support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life.
