This is former Commissioner of the NY/NJ Port Authority, Caren Z. Turner. Ms. Turner didn’t like the fact that her child and child’s friend were pulled over and cited for speeding by the police. So, she decided to let the police know who she was, who she knew, and what she could have done to them for having the audacity to site her child for speeding. Ms. Turner also let the police know that they were stupid. She was not calm about doing so either. From way over here, watching the video, I felt that the lives and safety of these two officers were in direct danger. Why is it that officers at a Waffle House in Alabama felt that their safety was so threatened by one woman, but these officers clearly did not? Ms. Turner was not even issued a citation for verbal intimidation of a peace officer. The young woman in Alabama was roughly taken into custody. Can you guess why it was that two women were treated in such a completely different manner???

Who signed off on this? That is the question I need the answer to. What rational thinking judge found a legitimate reason to grant a person who killed four people and injured four others in a Waffle House just two days ago, a bond? I’ve been held without bond on drug charges. What reason did the judge who granted shooting suspect, Travis Reinking have for granting an alleged premeditated murderer a bond? Granted, the bond was $2 million, which seems like a number most people don’t have the means to come up with…..on the surface. But remember, to pay your bond, you only need to come up with 10% of the total bond in cash. Some states may or may not have this rule, but Tennessee is definitely one of those states where paying 10% cash of your total bond will get you out of jail. So, to get accused murderer of four people, Travis Reinking out of jail, his family would’ve only needed to come up with $200,000 cash. Reinking would’ve easily made this bond. I say this, only, because I’ve seen this type of thing firsthand over the last few years. A person who commits a horrible crime, somehow manages to garner a sympathetic “fan base.” When the family of the person who committed said horrible crime creates a GOFundMe or any other type of donation page, they usually get a humongous amount of donations from people who support the accused and his actions…..for whatever their reasons may be. I’m more than certain that Travis Reinking would have made a $200,000 bail in less than a week’s time. That’s if he doesn’t already have family or friends who were able to come up with 200k in cash or property. Taking all of this into consideration, you can see why there was public outcry over a judge granting this man a bond. But it still doesn’t answer two very important questions. Who was the judge that granted this man a bond? And, what was this judge’s justification for granting a man alleged to have murdered four people a bond?

CBS News (@CBSNews) reports, a judge has revoked the $2 million bond that had been set for Waffle House shooting suspect Travis Reinking, prosecutors confirmed to CBS affiliate WTVF. The move came after community outcry over the bond set Monday for the suspect, who is accused of killing four people and wounding four others in a shooting rampage at the Nashville-area restaurant early Sunday morning.

Reinking, 29, was taken into custody Monday after a citizen tip, ending a 24-hour manhunt involving more than 160 law enforcement officers. Reinking was arrested in a wooded area not far from his apartment complex and the crime scene.

29-year old James Shaw said that he’s not a hero. Shaw said that he decided that if he was going to die, he was going to make the murderer have to work for it. That’s when he took action. Shaw did more than take action. He single-handedly took down a gunmen armed with an AR-15 assault rifle who had just shot six people, killing four of them, and may have been reloading in an attempt to kill even more innocent people. James Shaw said that he doesn’t consider himself a hero, but respectfully, I must disagree with Mr. Shaw. His courageous actions in that moment are the very definition of the word “hero”

NBC News (@NBCNews) reports, James Shaw says that after going out to a nightclub he decided to go to a Waffle House with a friend in the early hours of Sunday morning. The first one they decided to go to was too crowded, so they decided to hit up another Waffle House. This one in Nashville. Fatefully, Shaw arrived at the restaurant minutes before a crazy man walked in and began shooting up the place, armed with an AR-15 assault rifle.

When I first heard the gun shots, immediately it’s like a ‘what’s going on?’ type of feeling, and I saw a gentleman near the door of the Waffle House and I jumped from the high countertop seats and jumped toward the bathrooms. The bathrooms seemed like a bad idea. Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel.” Shaw told the “Today” show on Monday morning.

Shaw said he felt like the shooter was going to get him either way, so he waited for an opportunity to act.

“I was waiting for a chance, so when I saw the barrel down I saw an opportunity, and I attacked and took it and it worked out for myself and others who were in the Waffle House at the same time.”

Shaw said it was then that he and the gunman began wrestling, ignoring his own pain as he grabbed the hot barrel of the weapon. During his interview, Shaw’s right hand was still bandaged from the encounter and grabbing the scorching hot weapon.

“He was kind of cussing while we were wrestling around. When I finally got the gun he was cussing like I was in the wrong.” It wasn’t any kind of talking between us. I just knew I had to get that gun away from him. Later on I learned he had other magazines in his gun and could have reloaded, so I’m glad I acted.” Shaw said

The gunman fled after being confronted and losing his weapon. That gunman has been identified as 29-year old, Travis Reinking of Morton, Illinois. A few moments ago it was reported that Reinking had been captured. But enough about the murderer, this story is about one man and his brave heroic actions that surely saved many lives. Contrary to what you may think James Shaw, YOU ARE A HERO, and deserve to be recognized as such. Since our President seems to be too busy tweeting about NY Times reporters and calling them drunken liars at the current moment, I will speak on behalf of the American people. THANK YOU FOR YOUR BRAVERY MR. SHAW. You are a true Patriot and American hero!

Sometimes it seems that the more things change, the more they stay the same. In the year 2018, in a scene straight out of something that you may have seen in video clips of how black people were treated during the civil rights movement back in the 1960’s, two white police officers publicly degrade and disrobe a black woman in a restaurant…..and for what? Did this woman shoot 6 people with an AR-15 rifle at another Waffle House location in Nashville TN, killing four and injuring another two? Did this woman shoot and kill 17 people with an AR-15 rifle at a high school in Parkland Florida? Did this woman shoot and kill 58 people with an AR-15 at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas? Nope. Now, I know you’ve gotta be asking yourself “what was the police called for that made two male police officers react to one woman in such a violent and degrading fashion?” The answer. A disagreement with restaurant staff over silverware….or maybe it was plastic silverware…..one of the police officers said it was because he heard the “F” word. There are multiple accounts of the story, but whichever one you want to go with, ask yourself one thing. Did it call for this type of escalation? Then ask yourself this. How would you feel if this were your mother….or sister….or aunt….or cousin?

Murderers have been treated more gently than this young black woman was treated by these two cops. The first example that comes to mind is Dylan Roof. The white man who murdered nine black people as they pray in a Charleston, SC church. In that instance, police took the mass murderer to a fast food restaurant to get a bite to eat before they eventually (and I’m certain, very gently) took him down to the station to be booked for killing nine innocent people. I guess a disagreements over silverware is a much more serious crime than murdering 9 people. In the video you can see police choke, manhandle, and degrade this woman. From where I’m sitting, it looks like the police involved had some type of fetish for white male domination over a black woman. If you take a close look on the faces of the officers, what you don’t see is someone fearing for their lives. What you don’t see is a person trying to do their job. What you do see, are people taking pleasure in what’s currently happening….all of it. From the control of a black woman, to the sight of her exposed breast, to the power felt from controlling a woman who is held down beneath them, to the physical threats (“what am I doing? I’m about to break your arm is what I’m doing!” You can hear one of the cops say to the woman), to the climax when the cop placed his hands around this woman’s throat. This was not an arrest. This was an attempted rape! If there were no witnesses present, this could have (and probably would have) easily turned into an actual rape instead of an attempt. Not only should these policemen be fired, they should be arrested and charged with assault, attempted rape, and terroristic threats! Right is right, and wrong is wrong. This is clearly wrong. There was no logical reason that this should have escalated to this point. Over fuckin’ silverware???? Really?? Police officers’ first action when arriving on scene is supposed to be to deescalate a situation. Not make the shit worse. Again I ask, how would you feel if this were your mother, or sister, or cousin, or aunt? However you may feel about it……..be sure to keep that same energy if it unfortunately does happen to one of your loved ones.
